About Mwerre Soap & Skin

Mwerre Soap & Skin is an Aboriginal-owned, Australian artisan soap and bath products brand founded by First Nations woman, Liz Liddle. Based in regional Victoria in the Central Goldfields in Hepburn Shire, Mwerre creates handcrafted cold-process soaps, bath products and self-care collections inspired by the colours, minerals, botanicals and stories of Country.

Established in 2018, Mwerre combines traditional inspiration with modern artisan soap making to create Australian-made products featuring ingredients such as Australian clays, ochre-inspired colours, Australian native bush botanicals and pure essential oils.

The brand is recognised for its distinctive Clay & Ochre soap range, handcrafted manufacturing processes and commitment to supporting Aboriginal economic participation through business.

The word “Mwerre” comes from the Arrernte language of Central Australia and means “good”, “well” or “beautiful”, reflecting the brand’s belief that self-care should feel good, do good and create positive impact.

About Founder Liz Liddle

Liz Liddle is an Arrernte woman and founder of Mwerre Soap & Skin. She established Mwerre after drawing on her experience in the spa industry in Daylesford and her long-standing interest in Australian clays, soap and natural ingredients.

‘I started Mwerre after a long-held dream to create a liquid hand soap brand when I was working in the spa industry in Daylesford, Victoria. At the time, while i had a dream, I did not have access to the right information, people and conditions to make it happen. Fast-forward twenty years and I am working to fulfilling that dream’

Liz is a recognised advocate for Aboriginal business development and economic participation and is current Chairperson of Aboriginal Retail Australia. Through Mwerre, she combines creativity, traditional inspiration and small-batch manufacturing to create products that celebrate Australia’s natural landscapes while supporting greater visibility for Aboriginal-owned businesses in the beauty and wellness sector. What Makes Mwerre Different?

Mwerre is one of Australia’s few Aboriginal-owned artisan soap manufacturers producing cold-process soaps inspired by Indigenous Australian clays, minerals and botanicals.

  • Small-batch cold-process soap manufacturing
  • Indigenous clay and ochre-inspired collections
